French Ligue 1 champions Marseille have been drawn in the same group as English Premier League champions Chelsea in the pool stages of the Champions League.

The other teams in the group are Spartak Moscow and Zilina.

Last season’s semi-finalists Lyon will compete against Benfica, Schalke 04, and Hapoël Tel-Aviv.

France’s third qualifier Auxerre – the un-fancied team that did so well in last season’s Ligue 1 – get a dream draw with lucrative matches against AC Milan and Real Madrid as well as Ajax.

Simply competing in the pool stages is likely to net the club from Burgundy at least €12 million.
